I'm sure I'm missing something stupid, so if someone can give me a pointer to whatever I need to do to make this work so I can get back up and running I'd appreciate it. ![]() When I look at device manager it has "Unknown Device" and "D-CAN" neither of which have drivers installed. I tried loading the drivers from the CD that came with the cable but that didn't work either. This allowed those old Serial interfaces to be compatible with a wide variety of third-party applications which expect a K-line pass-through serial interface. The work around for older OS systems is to install the drivers through USB 2.0 first, then they will work with the 3.0 port. FTDI documentation says that the drivers wont install on USB 3.0 unless you have windows 8. Now when I plug my cable into the USB port it does not find any drivers for it, whereas on my old (Vista) laptop it just worked. I think the difference with your setup is that you are natively running XP with USB 2.0 ports. Got it to the point where I was almost back to where I was. Well apparently the HDD had bad sectors on the Windows partition so I can't get it to work now. I hadn't got my laptop completely set up yet because I was stuck on communication w/ car, but we figured it out.īut I knew laptop was dying so I bought a new hard drive for it and cloned the old one. weekend before last was over at a local guy's house and ended up messing around with coding.
